Construction on US 29, north of Forest Lakes and Airport Road in Charlottesville has peaked the interest of passers-by. An exciting, long awaited project is finally underway. Heavy machinery has been moving earth and grading the site as preparations are made for a long stalled, mixed development project named North Pointe.
CvilleTomorrow.org reported that North Pointe has, for a variety of reasons, including the recession and local sewer capacity, been delayed since 2009. Well, it’s full steam ahead now, and that is for sure. According to the developer’s web site, North Pointe will offer walking and biking trails throughout the community, as well as views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There will be single family homes, quad and duplex homes, and apartment homes to choose from. Ultimately, there could be as many as 893 units. The North Pointe web site lists amenities including; “pocket” parks, elementary school site, pools and clubhouse, fitness facility, and commercial development for neighborhood shopping.

Certainly, residents of North Pointe will be conveniently close to shopping at Hollymeade Town Center, and will have easy access to Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Airport.
Now for the bad news; it’s going to be a while before the first homes are ready, possibly around Spring of 2020. If you plan to buy a home in Albemarle County before then, please consider a visit to my web site at CvilleListings.com, where you can search available inventory and sign up to receive alerts for new listings.
